Video Card Issues

Hope this is the right forum, apologies if it isn't. Also apologies in advance for my ignorance but I don't understand much of this stuff at all :o

Tried to play some DVDs on my laptop, and got the following message: "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card." Never had that problem before, they're all genuine DVDs, and even ones that used to play no longer do so

Now this is where my ignorance comes in. I think the video card is found under Display Adaptors in the Device Manager, which means I think my video card is an ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics card. I tried updating the driver software by internet, but it says it's already up to date

Am I doing something wrong, or do I have to buy a new one?

And please lead me step-by-step with any answers; assume I know nothing about what I'm doing because I probably don't :o

    Try this program: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

largely ignores copyright and region-lock on DVDs to get around the genuine bull****tery.

It seems very cumbersome and awkward...

It's what i use, i just click and play really. I can see what you're saying though. VLC is generally better for performance too.
