    Hi!
I've been reading through the forum here and I've just got some questions regarding how good/bad some of the following foods are.

yoghurt: I always thought yoghurt was good for you and was reasonably high in calcium...and presuming it's low fat that it wuld be a good addition to someones diet if they were trying to be healthy? Same with milk - I'd usually drink full fat milk - maybe 2 mugs a day. I understand that full fat probably isn't so good...trying to convince my family to convert to low fat.

brown bread/pasta....: I've tried to cut out white bread and pasta - usually I try go for the whole grain option. Is there a better alternative for pasta? or rice? I've read here that rice and pasta and other carbs are not that healthy... (I'm generally confused...)

Personally, I try to eat a lot of friut and veg - usually stick to fish and chicken. I read so many different things giving me usually contrasting opinion.

I'm 18/female. I'm not over weight or anything. Exercise quite a bit - usually cycle about 6 miles a day - as fast as possible. Sometimes I go for and additional cycle (an extra 1h30 - 2h) and maybe a jog.

Thanks for any advice you can give me :) I started becoming interested in eating the best possible foods....even began adding linseed (?) to porridge. :D

Yogurt - I think the problem with low fat ones is that they pump them full of sugar to replace the taste lost by removing the fat.. I think the Glenisk organic low fat natural ones are OK though and you could always put some proper fruit into them to taste.

As far as i can see if you are eating many carbs, you need to eat low fat with everything else.. but if you do low carb, you can use fats/proteins as your energy source (I think, based on what I've been reading here!). So if you were going to do low carb you wouldn't have to be so worried about eating full fat yogurt/milk etc.

Some ideas for substitute of pasta etc - if I had a curry which I would normally eat with rice, I would pour it over veg and mix it up instead. You could try a small bit of sweet potato to replace your rice etc. Have also heard of people using iceberg lettuce leaves instead of those tortilla wraps for sandwiches. Or you can just make a big salad with loads of chicken breast/tuna etc.
