    hi,

had a problem with top screen so got a new one. I've the new one connected and when i try to power on the bottom screen flashes and then powers off.

could you tell me does the ds need to have the speakers soldered on to power up?

Doesnt that just indicate you haven't quite pushed the ribbon from the screen far enough into the connector?
