    Hi There,
My laptop is really slow and it is hard to get anything done on it..
I Bought it in early 2006 and it is a Packard bell, (It gets very little use). When i got it, Norton Internet security was on it, but i never renewed it. I had Bullgaurd security which i successfully UN-installed after use and now i have got AVG.
To cut a long story short, every time i switch it on Norton internet security reminders come up on screen. When i go to uninstall program, Norton is not listed as being installed!!! but when i run a search for Norton, it is found.

I really don't know how to get rid of it and i think its the cause of the laptop running slow..
    Can anyone help me??
    Thanks!

I cant believe it was so simple to get rid of and it took me so long....Its great to get rid of it...I had removed so much off my computer (photos/videos etc...) to help free up space and allow my computer to run faster, but norton always slowed it down...So Happy to have it gone...Id never buy norton or recommend it to anyone!

I would, but only after watching their product get streamlined a couple years back to something that wasn't a complete pile of crap. My brother had a similar problem, I see him like, once every 2 years but he had an old laptop with norton 2007 or something on it and he never renewed it, so for 4 years he hadnt been able to log into his email or facebook or anything. 2 minutes with a removal tool. Kinda sad.

All these programs need to disable themselves properly if people dont want to renew them. Im not even talking about annoying popups begging you to renew, but just basic **** like relinquishing firewall control, seems like a pretty basic requirement to steer out of douchebagsville.

Putting features like these into anti-virus programmes just gives viruses another avenue into attacking your computer.

Norton is the worst bloat of anti-virus software ever. Using Symanetc (which is Norton without the bloat). Much, much better.
