that was a good thread alright.

seriously though - Cork Airport hill - traffic lights to traffic lights - 3km - 4.3% average.

was doing between 9:50and 10:30 per ascent. I do it everyday on my commute - best recorded time = 8:50. Was wondering what a decent climber would do? I've seen some times for the upper part from the bull mccabes but none for the full hill.

On one of the most stunningly beautiful mornings if the year you went up and down a the same hill in an industrial estate leading to an airport 6 times.

Seriously dude. You need to get a life. Save that stuff for the turbo when it's wet, dark and miserable.

using the top time on strava from bull mccabes, and looking at the time for the full ride from the bottom for the same ride, about 8:15 (traffic lights permitting I assume) !

thanks seve - thats the info I was looking for. I'm a long way off 8:15 :(.

re: some of the other posts - dentists x-ray - I used to work in a sweet shop = no teeth left.:D

I also agree that there were much nicer routes to take on such a nice day but I was waiting on a call and needed to stay close to home.

Also - what industrial estate are people referring to? It is a dual carrigeway?

    .

oh and yea.....you said I was a lunatic last year when I went up that track 12 times, :) welcome to the mad house.

if 'you want to get a life', get yourself up to Shanrahan hill for some scenic repeats: http://app.strava.com/rides/614696#

Ah god be with the days when those lights weren't at bull McCabes and you could time yourself for the full hill
So that will tell ya how long ago i managed it in 5.53.72,and there weren't roundabouts at the bottom or top so you could start at a decent speed.

were those the EPO days? 5:53 is some, time flying start or not.

I was thinking of a drinking game (possibly due to the bottle of sam adams in my hand) - a pint at mccabes each time up - it would make the descents very interesting after a while.

EPO Ha ha i wish, i was fitter and faster then, floored it from the start, big chain from the bottom, nearly fell off the bike going through the gates of the airport, heart goin like the clappers.
I'm happy to do it in 10 mins now.
