    100%
Yeah, as long as the derailleur is Sram as well.

I assume a Sram cassette is ok in a Shimano Ultegra shifters and rear derailleur? The Sram 12-32 cassette is tempting (with a long cage.)

Sram and shimano cassettes use the exact same spacing so are always interchangable. However, the cable actuation on sram mechs is 1:1 whereas shimano is somethine else (2:1 maybe, I don't remember) so the shifters and mechs pull different amount of cable so you can't mix and match them generally speaking (I think I remember seeing somewhere that sram front mechs work with shimano, or maybe the other way 'round, although that was mtb, and it might have been a particularly dull dream).

If you're thinking of shifting to sram from shimano I've heard good things about the weight of sram and the shifting is supposed to be very decent provided you like double tap and the prices aren't that bad a lot of the time. However, you do seem to hear about sram breaking a lot more than shimano and campag and any mechanics I've spoken to don't seem to like sram as much.

I'm Using Ultegra 10 Sp Casette with SRAM Rival Mechs and shifters and no problem for the past year and a half yet. Took a little while to get used to the double tap but TBH I think they are easier to us.
    Just my opinion

    Excellent.

I concur. Am running new SRAM red gruppo with dura ace 10sp cassette. Sweet as a nut, particularly rear shifting. Front derailleur still a little troublesome but getting there...

    I see...

so the cassettes can be interchanged, but you must have SRAM shifter and mech together.... ie. no mixing shimano and SRAM mechs and shifters

thank god i was outbid on ebay...

    thanks all
