New Look Tall range-RIP

Was in London two weeks ago,and wandered into the New Look flagship store on Oxford street to pick up some treats in the tall section. Was looking around for it for ages, until the shop assistant told me they decided to get rid of it due to lack of demand! I was hoping it was isolated to that one store, but was in Jervis yesterday, and they also have got rid of their tall section!!

I don't understand the reasoning behind this. Women are getting taller, and the Tall section in Jervis always seemed to be really busy when I was there. It was the one shop that had reasonably priced clothes for tall women. Now we're left with Topshop Tall, which is just too expensive for everyday items, and Dorthy Perkins Tall section, which styles just aren't flattering. What is a tall girl to do?

Just wondering If the tall section is still available in New Look in Blanch and Liffey Valley, does anyone know?

Yeah I went into the New Look in Jervis and was very upset the tall section was gone!

I'm not actually tall enough for the tall section, but I love their vests as they sit longer and over your bum as they're meant for lovely taller ladies so always buy them, will have to get them online from now!:)

Yeah just so you know it's only Dorothy Perkins in Blanch that still has tall, everywhere else has petite now (which is fantastic for me but not fun for you sorry :( )

I know, I saw that their tall section is gone. Which is sad because all of their dresses are just indecently short on me so I would only ever buy dresses from the tall section. It's so annoying, it's really hard to find decent clothes for tall girls.

I use Long Tall Sally occasionally but it's so expensive and old navy have a great tall section but the shipping costs are huge. A lot of shops carry petite ranges, I don't understand why they can't carry tall ranges too?

I just called in to New Look in Jervis there yesterday to buy all my winter basics and no tall section! I talked to a couple of sales advisors and one of them said that they have basic work trousers and denims that now go to a 34 leg which is still a little too short for me as I like a 36 leg to wear with heels. Also I don't know if you lovely tall ladies are aware but Penneys has been selling a 34 inch leg in skinny and super skinny jeans which go up to a size 20 for the last 8 months or so and they are only €11.

Didn't know that! Must have a look next time I'm in, 34 would just about do me.

While I do regret the demise of the Tall section (especially for trousers and skirts), am I the only one who found New Look's Tall section, on the whole, rather uninspiring? Any time I looked in there I never found anything to appeal to me, it was all rather ugly long blouses & plain tshirts. Now I know some people said that they were great for good basics, which I agree with, but I can't help but feel that part of its demise was that New Look never really fully developed it and included more things in it?!

I agree, it was always plain, boring trousers and office wear. The odd time you would get something nice but more often than not I came away empty handed.

I'm glad you agree. For me, their website epitomized how terrible it was as a range, generally: you'd check it, then months later they still had the same stuff! Including all the types of clothes stocked, it never amounted to more than four or five webpages' worth of clothes. Such a shame, as I know many people who would have loved more of New Look's (often gorgeous) clothes to be available for us taller people!

The majority of stuff in the tall section on their website is on sale and only available in one of two sizes. Whatever about having the collection in stock in shops, if they had a good size collection on their website available it would be a lot better.

I know, I couldnt believe when I saw extra long length trousers in pennys. I'm usually a size 12,but only the size 16 pennys would fit me around the hips!I've toned up a bit recently so must go in and try them again.
Pennys is also my new one stop shop for longer length cardigans. There arm lengths are nice and long.

I've also been going into Only and Vila a lot recently. They do long lenght trousers, cardies and winter coats. Theres a brand new store opened in stephens green shopping centre which has some really nice stuff in it.

100% agree. My main buys were the leggings,t-shirts,hoodies and skirts for work. I dont think I ever got any nice going out clothes from the tall range. Whoever the buyer was should have been fired a long time ago.

Apparently tall girls have no fashion sense, and dont have babies either, due to the lack of tall maternity jeans!:rolleyes:

I agree, New Look Tall range was pretty bad, though i will miss their cheap jeans. :(

I agree although it wasnt great for fashion buys i found it great for cheap sweaters and jeans & the odd jacket for the taller lady! I was really annoyed when I realised it was gone in Jervis!!!it looks like its still online but they havent updated it in months so the clothes are shocken in taste if you ask me!...why oh why did this cheap store wave goodbye to the taller framed lady? oh well sigh...back to topshop to pay through the nose for a couple of extra inches here and there......
