After years of promising myself I am actually going to go to this show next weekend.
My question is have any of you been to it before? What can I expect? Are all the stands selling items, or doing demonstrations or just displaying their items?
There is very little info on the RDS site and on the link they provide also.

Any other info anyone could offer would be great:)

    Thanks!

    I love it :)
Maybe this link will help? They've the list of the exibiters http://www.twistedthread.com/pages/exhibitions/viewExhibition.aspx?id=32&view=overview
There's also a link to their facebook on it

I love this fair, I got each year with my Mom- we always manage to spend way too much money :) It's certainly worth visiting. Can't wait to go now :D

There are over 100 exhibitors selling their wares, and a few might be doing demonstrations on their stands but there will also be dedicated workshop areas. You usually need to book the workshops in advance and they can sell out quite quickly - you pay for them but get to make stuff yourself (make & take).

Although it's a bit pricey, I would suggest you buy the programme at the door and then go sit down with a coffee and go through the list of exhibitors. Shop around, as different exhibitors might be selling the same products at different prices.
Hang onto the programme as you will then have everyone's contact details after the show in case you have any queries.

Thursday is usually the busiest day because it used to be open until 8pm on Thursdays but they haven't done that for a couple of years now.

    Have fun!

I made it in today. I loved it, a lot of good stalls- got enough supplies to keep me going for the next year :)
Funny walking around it seemed to be all women! Seriously, I did not see one man hehe Lovely exibits and a nice variety of stalls anyway. And I found a brother specialist that are only up the road from where I live to fix my sewing machine :D happy days!
It was also a great atmosphere in the place- everyone was smiling (workers and visiters) while can make all the difference.

As long as you don't mind the cost to get in (€15) I suggest anyone whos free try make it in this weekend :)

Was my first time attending this show and I have to say I had a fantastic day!
Spent way too much money but sure what the hell!
Some great craft and jewellery making stalls.
Not just about about knitting and stitching.
Initially I thought e15 in was a bit steep but tbh I must have spent at least 5 hours in the place so I surely got value for money!
Very well ran with nice light refreshment options as well as very clean toilet facilities etc.
Wouldnt hesitate to recommend this as a great day out for any creative people out there!

First time for me tomorrow too!

I'm stupidly excited, my friends think I've lost it. :)

In previous years the Knit & Stitch in the RDS had becoming a tad jaded but having gone this year I was more impressed. It's moved to Simmonscourt and it seems to have a bit more room to move about and was less stressful and tiring and so we stayed longer which I'm sure is welcomed by the companies there. But €15.00 is far too high for me as I no longer have my own income. I met several crafters I know who are no longer working and we all agreed the €15.00 is a bit steep.

It was mobbed yesterday. Got some great value yarn and some beautiful fabric from Fabrics Galore, oh lord, they nearly bankrupted me!

Meeting Mr X Stitch was my highlight though. After all the twee as hell cross stitch stands it was brilliant to see something up my nerd-girl alley. :D

The exhibition pieces were really inspirational too.

I enjoyed chatting to the people doing the demos, especially the lacemakers and the man spinning wool. Problem is I'm beginning to get interested in new crafts and my usual ones already have me poor!

My wife normally buys her ticket about a month in advance from the Twisted Threads website afaik it was €11?

    Hi,

I didn't find out about the show until just now so unfortunately I missed it :(
Would any of you be able to provide me with websites or shops in the Dublin area that sell cross stitching supplies?
    Aida fabric, thread, hoops, etc...
    Thanks a million!

That's a special deal for early booking but I didn't know I could actually go until the first day of the show so I wasn't as lucky this time. NEC Birmingham and Kings Hall in Belfast both have the same kind of deal, buy early and get a discount which I have done in the past. NEC Birmingham is much much bigger and better but this year I had to be happy with little old RDS. To anyone who has missed the show I recommend subscribing to the RDS website or TwistedThread Exhibitions to be informed of shows, you will get reminders in time then.
