Dropbox is free, starting @ like 1GB, but very easy to get up to like 1.5-2GB for doing stuff like installing the sync software, which you'd be doing anyways, you can get bumped up to 8GB(x2, I think, for students) for free through referrals (but it can take a while unless you can get them easily, thread on boards AFAIK) and it installs to act like a folder that automatically syncs between your computers (lots of apps available for at least iOS + android). Lifehacker recommend them A LOT - they strongly recommend something, you know it's good IMO. I use it for smaller files, but not a power user. Can be upgraded to 50GB ($9.99/month, 99.90/year) or 100GB (19.99/month, 199.00/year) or some ridiculous amount (1TB or something) for teams.
Skydrive (by Microsoft/Windows Live) is free, starting @ 25GB and you can map your Skydrive like a network drive (not like Dropbox's superior & seamless auto-sync, you'd have to copy them in/out)
Google Documents is pretty much web-based, starting @ 7GB Gmail storage, 1GB Docs storage (standard google accounts stuff), Upgrades.

Came across this while investigating. 1 TB for €49.95 per year. Seems reasonable http://www.hostingireland.ie/cloud-backup-info.php

BackBlaze does unlimited storage for $50 a year. Pretty good deal to me!

I'm not affiliated either, just a fan of their work.
