Dropout or stick it out?

I gave up a good(ish) job a few months ago to go back to university and do a postgraduate course. A few months into the course I am feeling its not for me.
I am trying to take it slowly and realise its a big change for me as I last studied over 10 years ago. I find it quite difficult to focus on the tasks in hand and I also have a great difficulty in expressing my opinions in the class. I will admit I have a big confidence issue with my own opinions.
At the moment I feel like I am just keeping above water.

I have paid considerable fees to do this course but I am not enjoying it like I thought I might. I am considering looking for work again and would possibly drop out if I secured a job. Otherwise I will try and grit my teeth and scrape through. Frustrated at myself that I put myself in this dilemma.

Any advice for me at this time? Its only a one year course but I think I will struggle all year.

Don't dropout whatever you do. You are so lucky to have this option. It's only six months out if your life so stick your head down and finish it. Good luck.

Agree with I am a Friend. A few weeks into my taught MA course, a lecturer threw back some work of mine at me (in front of around 25 other people) as being sub par. Wasn't the only one it happened to, but still. Felt totally humiliated and didn't want to continue.

But kept going and got my MA. (Never thought I could do it.)

Be sure to keep on top of the work, otherwise you will be swamped. It's for a short time only and you will come out the other side. You will be so proud of yourself in years to come.

Don't worry about not speaking up in class. You can be sure everyone else is quaking in their boots also. Some people in my class barely opened their mouths for the whole year. If you have to give a presentation, practice it out loud well beforehand.

Time flies so fast. You never know what opportunities this postgrad will open to you. Even if you don't feel like you are enjoying the course now, the job you get from it and the experience you previously have could lead you to something completely new. If you drop out now you never know what you might miss. Stick it out, you have come so far, only a few more months, thats all and then when you have the piece of paper then its decision time :)
