One for the rule book?

I thought I had see it all till a league game last night.
A player threw his second dart and it landed in the board. When he went to throw his last dart he noticed it had no flight on it. The flight had got caught in the flight of the second dart before he threw it, but he never noticed.
So to complete his throw he walked up to the board, took the flight back from the second dart walked back to the oche, put the flight on and threw his third dart.
Weird one. No one minded and we laughed about it, but the question came up: "What would the rule book say about that?"

Only the first two darts would count in that instance , assuming your league follows the Darts Regulation Authority's rules . He should have borrowed a flight from someone rather than retrieve a flight from the other dart .

5.10.04 If the throwing Player physically touches any dart which is in the dartboard during a Throw, then that Throw shall be deemed to have been completed.

Thanks for the ruling. Surprised I forgot that one as I usally can come up with most of them on the spot!!
We did not mind as we all know each other well. Just a strange one that I was surprised to see. Dont really know how he did not see the two flights when he was throwing his second dart. He lost the game anyway, and we got the point!!
