Lads, is anyone on here using Yukon Digital Night Vision Ranger or the Pro version? How are they performing? Is it worth spending double for the PRO one? Thanks for the info.

I've the Ranger. From what I've read on the AGBBS it's not worth getting the Pro, considering the price versus what you get for that extra money. Haven't looked through one mind.

So I read myself, the lad was writting that difference is bearly noticeble. Anyway John, how do you rate yours, as in viewing distance and clarity?

Thanks for the offer mate, might consider that. Anyway, is your friend happy with it?

To be fair I haven't used mine in a good while. I use a light force 170 with an IR filter on it, on a dark night, with the right conditions (low moisture in the air) you'd see a fox 200 yards I'd say. The farthest I've seen a fox was 140 I think, could even see him swishing his tail sitting on a rock :D

Recently I got a 4.3 inch reversing camera screen, and connected it via the video cable. The picture is a lot better on that screen than the harsh built in eye piece, it's also larger. I've also replaced the 5x lens with either a 2x or 3x lens, I suspect it's 3x. That makes the field of view larger and means less fiddling in general, which is ALWAYS good with NV.

If I can, I'll take it out sometime over the next few nights and see how far I can spot bunnies with it, though the moon is at about 70% bright now and still coming ahead, which doesn't give a true picture if you know what I mean.

There's various things you can do to a Ranger to make it more user friendly, IMO. If I were buying again, there's value to be had in 2nd hand Rangers, around £200 I think.

he seems very happy, takes a bit off practice with the focus when changing distance however. what i have seen would not really be used for general scanning of the field. but fixed caller or bait at 150yds or so, he would never know you were there. i would strongly advise you take al look at one before you spend a grand.
