Anybody give me advice about how to sort a problem. I presume i will have to get it serviced but i will try here first. When i enter in computer games it makes a funny noise and doesnt recognise the disk nearly all the time. But it works the odd time and its getting annoying. I was going to get a new game but i dont see the point when its so frustrating if it will work or not. The laptop is about 3 years old so i suppose your going to get things like this.

Sounds like it's your CD/DVD drive. Check the model of your laptop, and get a replacement on Ebay, Very easy to swap. One screw in most cases.

Yes it is the cd drive. I bought the new game and i need to get a new disk drive now. I know nothing about computers could anybody tell me where i could get a cheap one. Money is tight coming upto Christmas. I was going to go down to PC World but i thought i would probably get it cheaper online.

Basically find the model of the drive and search eBay amazon and even google ( be careful on google tho not to end up ordering from somewhere that will take weeks for it to arrive).. Replacing is easy and usually only involves unscrewing a couple of serews
