Mobile phone texting privacy on a company issued mobile

I have just acquired a mobile from my new employer. I am wondering because they are the a/c holder, can they request a print out of my personal text messages from the service provider if they feel a need to do so. I am paranoid to send/receive personal texts from my company phone in case they can do this.
    Anyone?
I have posted this in the mobile/pda forum also as I didnt which was more suited. Sorry to mods for duplicate

If the purpose of the phone is for work related things then they can indeed get a list of calls and texts made.

As to the content of the messages I'm not aware of any phone comapny that supplies this.

there's a lot of case law regarding right to privacy when at work, though I'm no lawyer. I reckon as the previous poster says, they can get a call log and will for billing purposes, but would not get contents of messages. There should be a policy though - part of the Information Security or DP policy if there is one- I'd scrutinise those. If in doubt - have a second sim/phone.

Don't make private calls / send private texts from the company phone then. Doing so may be a disciplinary matter. However, most businesses have a "Use, but not abuse" view on ordinary use of such things - feel free to phone home to say "I'm on the way home and do you need to get anything in the shop", but don't for your cousin in Afghanistan for an hour a day.

Its is technically possible for all texts to be copied to the account holder. It seems to be legal as they are the account holder.

Almost every business account will receive an itemised bill in paper or online. So they would have a list of the calls that you make but not the content.

The other thing to bear in mind that they can request the handset and/or SIM card to be returned at any time if they own it. You may have non-work related material on the phone.

Don't think they can get your Internet usage other than how much data that you used.

Our law lecturer in evening class told us that an employer has the right to go in and read your emails under the Digital Act so id say its definate that they can check what they want regarding your phone
