Big Dan is playing so anything can happen  Still i'm hoping for a 2-1 win with a Paddy McCourt special.

    Zonal marking me hole

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,340 ✭✭✭TheBuilder

Whats with the half zonal, half man, marking? Mastlolovic strikes again!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,553 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

Zonal marking from set pieces cost Strachan his job, looks like it will show Lennon the door aswell. Hopefully the next cúnt will learn from other people's mistakes rather than the hard way.

Trying to use zonal marking with average players is a recipe for diaster as has been proved time and time again. Lennon and his team must be insane to consider playing zonal but hey ho, they obviously know best

Stokes scores once again yet Lennon decided to signal him out at the weekend for criticism? Stokes has got a raw deal too many times off Lennon since he joined,he must wonder at times what he must do to impress Lennon!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,415 ✭✭✭Lord Trollington

I think he needs to start wondering what he has to do to impress Trap too. 2 well taken goals.

I've always liked Stokes and thought he was a quality player. He gets a raw deal due to his temperament in my opinion.

    Rennes to win 4-2 ;)

European Football Irish man scores brace in 45 minutes nowhere near international squad. Not scoring in MLS seems more attractive to Trap.

    I feel really, really old.

Wee point on your team at the minute, Celtic fans are blabbing on about how important Naismith and Jelavic are to us, if Forrest gets injured Celtic are going to be in trouble, he's their only spark.

It's because Stokes is very average, would end up treating the call-up as an excuse to go on the beer, and he's not be fit to tie the laces of a one legged Keane.

Samaras impressing. Great for a 17 tear old to get a run in a European Night in Paradise.

Great run by McCourt, deserved something.

Would not be the first person to have a few shots in his dads pub.

Talk is real cheap, Stokes has to keep doing that game in, game out regardless of the opposition if he wants a call up. People are very quick to talk up players that have been inconsistent.

    2010/2011 GAMES 14 (2 as sub); Goals 8
    2010/2011 GAMES 29 (9 as sub); Goals 20
    2009/2010 GAMES 41 (1 as sub); Goals 24

That to me is very consistent

I can't understand some of the Celtic support at times? Stokes has done very well since he came to the club yet I remember when I welcomed his move to Celtic last August 12 months some posters on here were very quick to dismiss him yet his goalscoring record has proved otherwise.

Personally I think Lennon signalling him out in an Interview after last Saturday's game against Hibs was a disgrace. I watched the highlights of that game and he was 1 of the better players on the field and the Hibs goalie brought off 2 good saves to deny him.

It was a good win for Celtic tonight but IMO Lennon is still in dodgy territory as regards his future with Celtic. Sunday's game is a must win, draw or loss means Lennon must go IMO.

You are willing to back a player with an attitude problem over one of the most decorated former players and captains we've had because of match highlights?

I've watched plenty of matches where Stokes did nothing of note and contributed little to the team. Stats and highlight reels gloss over what he is often doing for large spells of the game, fúck all.

He is a centre forward. If he touches the ball once a game and scores he done his job imo.

As for lennon a disgrace it was great man management, gave him kick up arse he needs at times and paid off tonight

And if Stokes was a goal a game striker we wouldnt be having this debate. Fact is, he isnt that prolific so he has to be working hard for the team like everyone else in every game but the problem is he doesnt and in more than half the games he's played for Celtic, he hasnt scored. So by your own criteria, he hasnt done his job for a large percentage of the time.

He had his chance to get involved with the Irish setup and prove his worth to Trappatoni but he decided he was too tired to bother. He'll be waiting a while before Trap wants that one thrown back in his face again.
