DBoy's Quality and Reliability

Comments

i have owned one and ended up basically replacing everything and rebuilduilding the gun. they are ok for beginers but every time you pul the trigger there is a "twang" from the spring as there is no bearings on the spring guide. In the same money region is the G&G raider which is an excellant gun i no people who bought the gun and swear by them. if it was my decision on a budget would go for something from the G&G range
    hope this helps

Just wondering what are the quality and reliability of DBoy's AEG's as one of my cousins might be buying a DBoy M4 S-System and I might be selling my A.P.S. ASR 103 and I might get myself a DBoy M4 RAS II around the Christmas time. Link for both of the airsoft rifles are here.

    DBoys M4 S-System:http://www.munsterairsoft.com/airsoft-product/Airsoft-Guns/Assault-Rifles/DBoys/M4-Series/BOYI---DBOYS---M4-S-System---Full-Metal/197
    DBoys M4 RAS II:http://www.munsterairsoft.com/airsoft-product/Airsoft-Guns/Assault-Rifles/DBoys/M4-Series/BOYI---DBOYS---M4-RAS-II---Full-Metal/195

Any bit of help will do so that we know what we are buying.

    Thank you.

hiya, i have the m4 special operations (i cant see there being a great deal of difference) and i love it, it did need some work though, it had a bit of a feeding problem to start with which turned out to be the gas nozzle not moving properly, this in turn being caused by the tappet plate. after a bit of a shim job it worked perfectly. other than that they are budget guns and the finnish tells this. don't be put off though, if you want to start modding and upgrading you cant go far wrong with them. (all in my opinion that is):):D:)

Just one question about the metal on the DBoys. Is it that "POT-METAL" that you would find on them really cheap budget airsoft rifles like AGM, CYMA etc...???

in short, yes. (i think so) the outer barral is a 2 piece and is ali, the rest im fairly sure is cast mazak. however, my one is a decent quality casting (nice fit, few mould lines etc.) and in fareness un less your planning on using it as a crow bar you should be ok.:)

Do you have the older models that DBoy's use to make because the newer version seems to look alright, look reliable too.

If you are going to fork out the price that place is asking...why not get a G&G raider instead? Far better guns and internals are fantastic right out of the box!

Heard many stories about Dboys going tits up quite fast and as tomaswatkins said people ended up having to rebuilt the gun :)

I've owned both of those AEGs. Found them both great. Rock solid and reliable performers. Change the hop and barrel and your laughing.

The twang noise is nothing to do with the spring guide. It's to do with how the AEG was down graded. The spring was cut (too short at that) and therefore had room to move inside the gearbox, each time it was decompressed it rattled up and down inside.

Nearly all guns are pot-metal anyway. Pot-metal is any inexpensive, low melting point alloyed metal. Including, zinc, magnesium, aluminium, some irons, cadmium.
It's all about the finishing that's applied.

Thanks LeftyFlip, that was pretty much the answer I was looking for.

You said before as well that some gearboxes wouldn't fit into A.P.S. ASR Series airsoft rifles but I'm just curious... would you say that a ULTIMATE Gearbox would fit in a DBoy M4 Series without modification as I may have to get a BRAND NEW AIRSOFT RIFLE after Christmas (!!!SALE!!!).
