Hi there,Havent posted to boards before but I have received a wealth of information from you guys in the past. I have searched boards already for this particular error message but I cant seem to find anything related to the problem. On Sunday while driving up to the Dublin marathon, just after filling up with diesel, I received an error message on the car with a red triangle and the message stating "Engine Systems Service Urgent". The car didnt lose power and there were no signs of problems before that. I pulled in and turned off the engine for a few minutes. Looked up the manual but it wasnt too helpful. Turned the engine back on and the message appeared again. I drove on to Dublin and parked the car up for a couple of days.I brought the car to an indy garage and they ran a diagnostic check on it. He reported that there were 4 messages that came up.Code P2585 - Fuel AdditiveCode P0299 - Turbo underboostCode P2458 - DPF RegenerationCode P0341 - Camshaft Position Sensor. The mechanic said he wasnt sure when these messages appeared and wouldnt know which one is causing the Engine System Service Urgent message on the dash. These message may have appeared before I bought the car in january. Warranty ran out in September so its typical it would happen now. Car has 68k miles. Fuel filter replaced at last service in June and there has been 16k mileage done since then.As I had to head back to Sligo, I couldnt leave the car with him but he suggested that the car should be ok to drive back to Sligo but to get it into a garage asap. The car is due for a service anyway so I have it booked in to be done on Friday. Im just afraid that these problems could be quite serious and will cost a fortune to fix. Is there anyone out there that has similar experiences with these messages and what I might be facing cost wise to get them fixed. Thanks for your help.

Your DPF Filter needs attention as it may be blocked.

    You have 2 options:
    - Replace the DPF at a cost of €500-1000
    - Remove the DPF baffles in the exhaust box (cutting open, removing, welding back together) and disabling the DPF system in the ECU at a cost of €400-500, this is also known as "DPF Delete"

If I were you, I would go with option 2 if it was confirmed that you have a blocked DPF. Its not an NCT requirement to have one in place.

Not at the moment. In the longer run that could change. I still agree with the removing of a DPF though.

Seems like a lot of money to disable the dpf system, surely it would be worth while to fix it properly.
But the thing that amazes me is that you brought the car to your mechanic who gave you the fault codes, why didn't he just fix the car for you instead of wasting your time or was he not capable of fixing it. What sort of a mechanic was he,a lego mechanic. Did he work in a main dealer ?

Judging by those comments your obviously not familiar with DPFs or their cost to fix/replace.

Oh I know whats involved alright,I had the pleasure of having to replace mine a little while ago & also have the dpf fluid replaced .I like wise had a message on the dashboard engine system service required & it felt a bit sluggish. Anyhow I brought the car to someone who knows about cars & actually knows how to use the equipment they have.I was told that the dpf was the problem & needed to be changed. The cost I think was about 850.00 Car has been flying since.

Well i got my results back today.
    -Fuel additive needs topping up
-Glow plugs are showing a fault
    -and the DPF is gone.

they are currently compiling a quote. April could be a very quite month.

The DPF for the Volvo is very expensive. Remove and get it cleaned out, thats possible.

I paid around €1k for a new DPF in my S40 nearly 2 years ago and that was after some tough haggling with the service manager. Removing the DPF and getting it deleted from the car's ECU is the more common and cheaper solution these days.
