Was going to have a look at a ford focus estate, 2006 model.

Wondering what people think about this 1560 engine, is it powerful enough for the car? and how about the reliability of this car in general?

    2006 Ford Focus
    Diesel 1560 engine
    Mileage 100,000 KM
    1 owner

    Nct 07/12
    Asking price is 5500 euros.

And how does the price sound?

    Thanks all

That looks like a very well minded Focus estate!

The 1.6Tdci is a very good engine and has enough poke to propel the car around. Fully loaded it will run out of steam around 120km/h, but it's good enough up to there. I love driving the 1.6Tdci Focus's - you can throw them around all over the place without complaints - they handle very well.

Some people complain about the seats not being the best, but I find them fine. No armrest is a bit of a pain if you are used to one. If you never had one, you won't miss it though.

We've just had a 08 Focus 1.6Tdci Estate back with 240,000km. Had a cracked turbo pipe replaced at 120,000km and the timing belt and water pump done at 220,000km. Apart from that, just standard service and maintenance (no info on a clutch ever being done).

As for the price? We've been selling higher mileage saloons for more money to the trade, so it does seem like a bit of a bargain!

Looks well minded. Engine is good. 110bhp version is best.

p.s. Ad says "cheap road tax" but it's a 2006 model, so it will be c.c. based.

Have the same vintage of a focus estate but with a 1.8 petrol engine (so a reasonably lively 125hp and good for 200kmh on the autobahn!)

Its a great car and I actually find the seats very comfortable.
For example, I had a tedious 10hour trek to Berlin but even that long in the front seat was ok. And am driving across the continent at christmas and am confident that the seats will be the least of my problems!
Cant say anything about the back seats but they seem reasonable enough and way better than anything I had to endure in various Mazda 323s as a kid.

How many HP has that car in question? I only could find one reference to car on the web with a 1560 engine and it was a measly 70hp or something which surely cant be right?

My first response was positive, and then I looked a bit more closely. Tyres aren't new, they're painted. Some of the wheel rims appear badly scuffed. Those 'corrugated metal' floor mats don't fit the profile of one careful owner. 'Service done by Ford' could mean as little as one stamp in the book. Finally, I googled the phone number and it's a dealer telling lies about being a private seller. Not as it first appears..

That engine was available in either 110hp or 90hp, only the 90hp was officially imported. Most UK imports are 110hp.

The 90hp does not have the infamous DPF !!!

Anan1 is on the ball there!

    Sellers mobile number googled: http://www.google.ie/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=0872022214&safe=active
    Polos/integras/Jaguars etc etc. 100% DEALER!!!

New tyres will have at least 8mm thread. I'd bet that they are newly fitted "second-hand" tyres (Continentals are a second-hand favourite).

+1 on the "service done by Ford". Probably done 50k ago

It is on the cheap side, but ask yourself why is it cheap.

With the suspicions above, plus a convenient 99kilometers on the clock, could there be a risk that the mileage is not 100% genuine?

Both were imported officially. I owned 2 110bhp 1.6TDCI Foci - both Irish cars from new. CMax's.

Many of the later previous model Foci had the 110bhp engine too.

We are on about the Focus Estate of 2005 2006 from the OP's link, not the Cmax ;)
