    Hi everyone.

I hope you can help me.

I am an employee who lives in munster and works 250km away. I leave home on Monday morning and return on wednesday evening. I stay in a hotel on monday and tuesday nights as it would be ridiculous and almost impossible to do 500km per day. I am aware I cannot claim my expenses going to and from work. Can I claim my hotel expenses? I have to stay in overnight to do my job for logistical reasons ie the travelling. If i didn't stay in the hotel I could never have accepted the position.

No real info on revenue website in relation to this type of scenario wher ethe expense is incurred, as far as I am concenred, to enable me to carry out my work.

thanks in advance for any replies

    Hi

Based on what you have said the staying in the hotel would be for the purposes of shortening the commute and therefore would not be allowable as a tax deduction.

    Kind Regards
