hey all so i got a message from paypal saying i have received x amount of money andim coming close to my limit of 2500 euro per year and i have to provide id etc

so quick questions it says to due to eu money laundering laws that if you get 2500 euro per year you have to provide details id etc

i have 700 euro left till i hit my limit and my account will reset in march callender year on limits

so it says i have 143 days to provide information i can do everything with my account but just not close it

so heres the question it states if you have over 2500 euro limit a year you have to commply with eu laws etc

so what happens if i dont send them the proof they want what happens
and if i dont exceed the 2500 euro in my understanding of it i should not have to provide these deatails?? is this correct

In the email did it say "click this link", or did it tell you to go to paypal.com and sign in?

Also, did the message you got come from "someone@paypal.com", or from either paypal@somewhere.com or someone@paypal.somewhere.com"?

I get messages claiming to be from paypal, but they are always from addresses like the last 2 examples, or a click the link option. These, as far as Im aware, are normally scams to get your details (phishing scams).

If you're wary of it, try forwarding the message to "security@paypal.com".

If it does seem kosher, then try messaging them back for clarification of what you need to do.

You could ring them in Ireland from this number: 1890-943-220 (taken from their website here).

if you want to continue using the account , you need to upload photographic ID and a utility bill.

otherwise your account will be limited / restricted

As soon as you hit the limit you'll have a sending restriction and you won't be able to use the account. It may reset after a certain amount of time, but until then you won't be able to do a thing. And if you open another account it'll probably happen to that too.

they aint a bank and dont have same rules to follow
