Just wondering if this is possible without turning the pieces cheap and nasty?
I have some pine pieces -(wardrobe+chest of drawers) that I'd love to paint white, if I thought I could A. keep the grain. and/or B. Basically just keep it looking ok.
Is it possible and/or difficult to do and is there suggested paint/spraying??

It certainly is possible. I recently painted our dining room table and chairs, which were bare wood.

    Steps:
    1. sand back lightly
    2. Use BIN primer to seal the wood.
    3. Lightly sand.
    4. 2 coats of your colour of choice.
    5. 1 or 2 coats of a clear varnish to toughen the finish.

It's a bit tedious but it worked out great. Make sure you use a good quality brush.
