Except for the fact you can now Sky+ BBC One HD I wasn't bothered with it being on 'Other Channels'. I'd like to see the ITV channels come to the EPG but that's not going to happen:(

    That's good news - I've just checked it and confirm it's there . . .

E4 HD has been on the EPG since it started in the UK. Channel 215. :)

It's good to see and we're unlikely to Get Itv's on the EPG unless you do the card trick.

BBC One NI was 141 on the Irish EPG last night unless something changed since?

Shweeeeeet :D 141 bbc one hd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,510 ✭✭✭galtee boy

Also, it's the generic "England" BBC1 HD and not a HD version of BBC1 NI,that they have given us. So we are not shackled to BBC1 NI schedule anymore, especially around 10.30pm time when there is usually something about NI politics and the like on. However, I suspect when Astra 1N is up and running fully, the BBC may launch HD versions of NI, Wales and Scotland and we will automatically be given BBC1 NI HD :(

Just noticed on 141 after the news and weather at 1:30 there was just like a test card type thingy running until the 10 minute NI. regional news spot was over.

No, never. I watch the NI news at 1:30 almost every day and today was the first time I had to change to channel 234 to see it.

Is it FTA? If so, does anybody have the frequency?

Wrong BBC 1 HD has always been like this.

BBC 1 NI was on 141.

Sky added BBC 1 HD and put in on 141 BBC 1 NI was moved to 234.

Shouldn't the title of this thread be changed to BBC1 HD now on EPG 141 ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,818 ✭✭✭Minstrel27

It's not 141 for everyone. Non HD subscribers with a Sky HD box will still have it on 234.

Thats only the case for people with the HD pack,as its still on 234 for people who dont have it.

    So then it should be:

BBC One HD now on EPG 234 for cheapskates and EPG 141 for those who have more money than sense :)

I am a Sky HD subscriber but when I got to 141, I get the message 'no satellite signal is being received'

This has been the case for a while - even after a reboot.

In addition, I can't seem to get many of the BBC channels via 'Other Channels' lately.

The box is a Thomson and is around 5 years old.

whats the signal quality like? services,0,4 select.

have you had the power supply of the thomson box upgraded? (could be the problem)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 484 ✭✭DigiDec

The capacitors are failing, they can be replaced or replace the box.

Have SKY HD boxes been around for 5 years? WOW - time is flying by!

Will try that - but there was no issue getting BBC HD until recently

No, the box is as it was when we first got it.

We're not having issues with other channels, but at 5 years old, I wouldn't be surprised if something is failing. Which is the more cost effective solution - replacing the box or just the capacitators (who would do such a job?)?

Have you got BBC1 HD tuned in via 'Other Channels'? If so, remove it and re-boot your box.

    Yes...I think it is.

When you say 'reboot' do you mean just plug it out and leave it for 30 seconds or actually do a rebuild?

Just plug out for 2 minutes and boot up again.

You definitely should get BBC1 HD on 141 with BBC NI. on 234

Sorry for using jargon .. after removing BBC1 HD from other channels, just unplug the box for a couple of minutes and start it up again

Its for any subscriber with a HD box, not just HD subscribers. Below are the HD channels on the normal EPG.
    • BBC One HD
    • BBC HD
    • NHK World HD (Japanese News channel, AMAZING ;))
