    Hi,

I got pulled over for speeding on a dual carriage way there about three and a half weeks ago, and I have heard nothing since. He said there would be a ticket in the post, is it standard that I haven't received it yet?

If not, what should I do? Should I go to the Garda station and tell them I haven't got anything yet (I think this might come across as more genuine to the Judge if it ends up in court than me just saying I never received it).

    What's my line?

You might go to garda station to make sure that letter with fine was not actually lost on the way.
Make sure though, you spell your name to them correctly :D

It depends on the Garda I reckon.

A friend of mine got a summons 3 months after being stopped. This was around 5 years ago (not sure if the law has changed regarding time limits etc)

I got stopped a couple of years back and was told by the Garda that I would definitely get a summons, but never heard anything since.

I believe the limit for a traffic offence is 6 months but I'm not sure, I'm not in the mood to go digging deep enough in to statute law.

3 and a half weeks is nothing, it'll likely still come.

OK thanks I'll just forget about it for a while longer so.

I was hoping there was a deadline of say 28 days so that I could go to the Garda station on the 26th day, so they wouldnt really have enough time to do anything but I could still say in court if necessary that I tried to sort it.

Only 28 days is the period you have to pay the "reduced" (80 quid) fine after receiving the FPN.
