I know a guy who did one in a firm in NY after 3rd year. My guess is it would be quite difficult to secure one competing against the American Law school students with all of college and a year or two of law school behind them. Would be great to get though!

You should look through Craigslist NY for internships. While I am sure there is lots of competition for internships I somehow managed to get offered two without dazzling results and no legal experience at the time. I could only guess that the novelty of a foreign educated intern appealed to them.
