Sound in Galaxy S2 gone in one channel

My lovely Galaxy S2 has developed a flaw. The headphone output fades in one ear completely. When I plug out half way and back in it comes back but only for a short while. I think there's a loose connection in the jack. I'm wondering should I attempt to screw open the unit? I bought it second hand on Adverts.ie
