I woke up this morning with nowt to do - checked my facebook for a friend and noticed the "Add Friend" and I'm curious. Do people delete 'friends' from their Facebook?

The ones with many 'friends' will often have a cull.

That they feel the need to tell everyone about, as if they are sitting by their computer waiting to see if they made the grade.

I cull my FB list every few weeks, and/or when I'm pissed as a fart then spend a week making excuses to 'real' friends why I "accidently deleted.

LOL I'm exactly the same. The old 'I left my laptop logged in and my friends did it for a joke' routine works.

To be honest though I delete friends that I meet often. I met my cousin in Dunnes the other week and between the pair of us I don't think we had one piece of news for each other that we hadn't all ready seen on each others Facebook page so I got rid of her.

Why accept/add them in the first place?

I'm going through my friends and noticed that 3 people have deleted me, one girl was a really good friend at some stage :o

I delete anyone that doesn't talk to me in real life. From a small town, everyone adds everyone just to have a snoop.

My younger brother added me while sitting on the couch across the room. WHY!???

You just answered your own questions - a some stage we might have been friends, and now they're history.

But tbh I opened my FB account mostly to keep me in the loop with the Judo and MMA scene. I occasionally get invites from work mates and add them, but if we haven't spoken in while they're usually sent to the trash bin and no doubt lots have done it to me first.

I have deleted friends that annoy the hell out of me online. Constant messaging, stupid links. I would still get on with them in person though.

I cleaned out an awful lot of people a few months ago. I don't see the point in having friends on Facebook who never talk to you and who you don't talk to that much...

Of course I felt a little bit bad about it at first, but I did the right thing and I'd do it again :)

I deleted someone recently because he was a head wrecking fe(ker and he now wants me to apologise to him. I don't think so

    Yes, they do.

Facebook also makes it hard by the way to actually delete your whole account but buried in the site for those that want to do it, is this: http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=224562897555674

I've deleted people who I used to be close to but no longer am and who were posting 10 status updates a minute, whinging about their life or talking about drinking with the 'girlos'.

I've known some people to take great offence at being deleted - fvck 'em, we probably deleted them because they were insecure, thin skinned wanker's if the truth was really known.

ive delete some and i dont accept everyone either. i really dont get the whole collect a friend thing how the feck can you really have 700 + good friends. Work people are an issue where i work there is no respect for privacy and the amount of friend requests i got when there was a romour about my private life going around work was unreal. needless to say i didnt accept them all sure they would barely say hi in the canteen.
