. I just switched over to a mac. I have an external hard drive that I used with my PC and I can read it on my mac, but I can't modify it in any way. Is there a way to format it to my mac without losing everything on it,i want to Recover my Photos

What's the problem if you can read it from the mac? Copy the photos onto the mac, then reformat the external drive to ExFat, both Windows and OS X will have full functionality.

The format I use for my HDD's is FAT32

As said above it will work with both platforms. There can be issues when dealing with larger files I have heard. I think that kicks in over 500Mb so may be an issue when I move to Full Frame and have a PSD.

Use ExFat, not Fat32. It is a newer version with no downsides. The only potential problem is that older operating systems can't read it, but even XP can read it with the right update.
