I've been considering buying a Thinkpad W520 for a while. Considering it's a rip off this side of the Atlantic i've been thinking about importing it from the US. Does anyone have any idea of the customs charges I might face? Is it just VAT on the value of the laptop or are there any extra charges?

There's a customs charge on top of that too. Generally expect to pay 25% on top.

25 on top of 21% VAT?

14% duty on electrical goods. The 21% on top of duty, laptop, shipping and handeling

Yep no € key, no funny looking symbol next to the 1 key that serves no purpose, the @ symbol is where it's supposed to be, etc.

That's easy enough , but I can never find the backslash when you use our layout on a US keyboard
