Getting documents back from the Grant body

So I finally heard back from the Grant people, they sent me a letter saying they require additional documents - April 2010 P60 and accounts ending in 2010 from my mother and father respectively. I think they had sent them their most recent ones instead, but it seems they'd prefer out-of-date documents...

They also want a "certified copy" of my passport - I saw no mention of this on the application and I don't even know what it means.

I've also noted that the letter states that despite them demanding original copies, if I want any of them back I need to include a photocopy and a stamped addressed envelope. Again, I do not remember reading this on the original application. Surely they do not think it's okay to keep these documents in their possession? They did mysteriously post me back my Birth Cert a few weeks ago (without so much as a note to accompany it).

My parents need these documents to apply for financial assistance for my sister who is attending university in the UK. How many 'originals' do they think we have?

Original copies of revenue stuff shouldnt be an issue, you can jsut request them again. So I can understand why they don't send these back.

As regards certified copy of passport, it's a photocopy of your passport that a garda has stamped to confirm it matches the original. Pretty common for a number of places that want you to submit documents.
