    hi all,

went to the shop yesterday as i parked i felt a chug (no warning light appeard on the dash), i turned off the car and parked up. 15 mins later i returned to the car. i tried to start it but it wouldnt turn over. i call my mechanic (a former bmw mechanic) he plugged in the computer and it didnt show any readings. i got it towed to his place and he has just informed me that the timing chain needs to be replaced.

any ideas? how much should it cost(parts/labour)?

im clueless when it comes to cars....

What I am thinking at the moment is this, what caused the problem with the chain ? What milage is on the car?

As per your other duplicate thread, this can happen with 1 Series cars. There were issues with cam chain tensioners.
