MAD vs EPIC

I've had the mountain bike for a few months now and have regularly been doing the trails around Ticknock and Ballinastoe with the odd trip to Ballyhoura.

I'm having an awesome time but I'm looking to improve my ability to ride the trails and think the best (and quickest) way to achieve this is by joining a club.

As I live about 2 mins from Ticknock, the 2 clubs that are the best options are MAD and EPIC.

So fellow boardies, what are the pros and cons of each club?

    Cheers,

    SC

First of all, you're dead right.... the best way of improving and meeting other like-minded folk is to join a club.

As MAD chairman, I could'nt possibly comment as to which club!:D

MAD do fantastic introduction and beginners course's,a great way to improve youre skills from experienced mtb MAD riders. Then you can work your way up to racing in the NPS.A very friendly club, with a huge number of members.

MAD is the oldest Mtb club in the country, having been formed in 1989. So there are plenty of former members around the place. As a club we are open to everyone from novice to savage, but generally our members are in the mid-20's to late 30's age group. We are also the largest MTB club in the country, with over 150 members!

Forget about pros and cons, just head out for a spin with each and see how you get on. MAD has an easy spin this Saturday, I'll PM you the details. Most of the spins are listed here.

I like the MAD buzz. The lads are good craic and there are plenty of spins to suit different levels at any day or time. My riding has progressed a lot this year with them and I have had some great days out thanks to the club.
