Hi - some weird behaviour from my 08 Seat Ibiza in the past few days. Ill draw a timeline on what happened

    1. Two weeks back, serviced (75000km on the clock). All well, drove home
    2. Yesterday drove into work, again all good
    3. Came out to car at lunchtime and started it. Mechanically working fine, but the following symptoms on the electrics
    - constant flickering of all the dashboard lights
    - speedometer seemed to keep stopping and starting regardless of speed
    - Steering very heavy as if power steering disabled

I rang garage who said it was likely a problem with the onboard system not getting a charge - he recommended someone to check battery.

    4. Today i tried car again, the above problems dissapeared, but i now have the Seatbelt/Airbag orange light on.

My question is, do i need a main dealer to hook a laoptop onto this or is this easily remediable. Any advice or your own experience welcome

you dont need a main dealer to plug into it. some one with vcds could scan it for faults. try on vagdrivers for someone close to you.. they will be a hell of a lot cheaper than a dealer!!
