I'm hoping to get a 4s as soon as they become available and I want to get the 16G version. I'm just wondering will the higher resolution pictures take up much more space compared to the current iPhone 4 pictures.
Pictures seem to be the only things that take up most of my memory because I'm always snapping :) .

They shouldn't take up much more, but to correct you, photos are 8 mega pixel, videos are 1080p

Here are a few taken from my iPhone 4s and the sizes of the files! I bought it in belfast on the UK launch day. The photos are superb! better than any medium range digital camera on the market , zoom into those pictures and the quality is still amazing so the size is right for the quality of photo, I went for the 32gb version, all the 1080p video and high res camera will quickly eat up any free space.

The camera on the 4S is excellent, but those photos are not! The flower one is completely out of focus, and the tree one is taking its lighting reading from the sky making everything else in the photo come out as a silhouette!

Practice a bit more, then you'll be able to show off the camera properly.

A 1080p photo is only about 2 megapixels - as someone else said, the normal iphone photos will be 8, so they will take up much more space than 1080p photos - can you set the iphone photo resolution, or is it fixed at 8?

Im not a professional photographer, far from it, the purpose wasn't to have great photography lessons , was just to show the size of the pics and how nice and crisp and colourful the pictures looked.

They probably are but note its controlled environment and used with tripod. As point and shot in good light conditions without big contrasts its very good camera.

Oh ye I know - just sayin that you'll take even better photos once you get used to "how" it takes photos! Its a quality camera for sure

Yes, but in all fairness, there is nothing sharp in the flower pictures. Do you use the autofocus at all?

Also, the trees, tap on them and get camera to meter off them.

You are trying to show off the camera but pictures that are not sharp (or crisp as you put it) and metered wrong will make all cameras look bad.
