From that code I'd say you need a new egr or you could clean out your own.

Get a can of wynns EGR 3. I'd say motor factors would have the stuff or similar. There's a guide on youtube. Just search 'EGR cleaner'.

took out the egr today and cleaned it out. it wasnt bad. cleared the code so hopefully that works

Checked out autodata on those codes but nothing doing..:(
Going by the link below it maybe worth checking to see if the Vacuum diaphragm in the egr valve is holding vac.
If not then you'll have to get yourself a new egr valve.

If you have a mityvac it is very easy check the diaphragm in the egr..:)
    Keep us posted.

Sounds like the diaphragm is o.k then..but if there was a small hole in the
    diaphragm if could creap closed/open.
ideally if you connected on a mityvac, pulled a vacuum and if it holds
a steady vacuum then the diaphragm is definitely o.k....:)

Did you check for cracked vac pipes/hoses loosing vacuum....?
Are you getting a good vacuum on the egr supply hose..?

Again if you had a mityvac you could check each of your hoses.
When the engine is running are you getting vacuum at the egr supply hose..?

when the car is ticking over there is no vacuum on the pipe at the top of the egr. im guessing i should be able to feel the suction on the pipe if i put my finger on it???

OP, did you check the electrical connections to the egr valve? If the solenoid on the vac line wasn't getting power you'd have no vacumn. Maybe some water got in there recently and dirtied a connection? I'm thinking the egr would want to be almost blocked off to throw a code.

The vac pump should be ok too as you would have poor brakes too.

Just something else to look at while you are under the bonnet. Good luck!

there are on wires going to the egr valve just 2 pipes. The brakes Work fine.

Follow the vac pipes from the egr back the way and you should find an egr solenoid valve...check to see if there is vacuum both sides of this solenoid..if you have only vac on one pipe then check for 12volt supply to the solenoid....as you go along check for cracked pipes....Whats your engine code as i maybe able to upload a vacuum diagram..:)

Going by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEAT_Le%C3%B3n your engine code is ARL.
There seems to be three solenoids (13 pressure converter) (14 pressure converter) (15 Solenoid change over valve) which are connected to the egr valve...
i would guess one of these valves have failed, also check wiring to each solenoid valve.
Your egr valve is no 1 in diagram

think i have it sorted. the pipe going from the top of the egr to the solenoid was damaged. well there was a slight tare in it where it pushed on. cut it off joined it back up and cleared the code. light has stayed off so far!

Yup hope so. I wasn't sure if it was damaged before hand or if I done it taking it off. May get a new one anyway as it's not sitting right after cutting the small bit off!
