i'm starting to farm a few acres next year, only 4 r 5 cattle and have a full time job, what do i need to do tax wise? i know i could just try and go unnoticed but i'd prefer to be up front if possible. i'm doing a lot of the ground work this year, reroofing, stock proofing etc. but wont actually have any stock till next march r april. can i claim vat on expenses incurred this year or can i claim them next year? i havn't registered for my herd number as i have to stock with in 3 months then and dont want to get straight into buying feed.
