ashes in the brown bin ?

    Quick check - do people reckon that ashes from a domestic fire are allowed in the brown (compost) bin ? I reckon they probably are. I'm going to check with Panda and see what they say, but thought I would check in here first.

    I don't know Panda's policy but I've read that it depends what you're burning. If it was untreated wood, then it's fine to put it on your compost heap. But if it was coal, firelighters etc then these can contain toxic elements such as heavy metals that you wouldn't want to add to your soil.
