Just ask for proof, receipts that the head was sent of to get skimmed and for parts. Also, make sure they find the cause of the failure or it's just going to happen again. Also it's not a nice job to do so it's in there interest to get it right because it will end up in the garage again.

They should have tested the head gasket after the water pump failure IMO.

Otherwise, as above, if they are going to fix it, ask for proof that the head was pressure tested and skimmed. It will also need new head bolts, chain cover and sump gasket as well as the head gasket itself. They also need specific tools to set up the chain timing on that engine so also make sure they have all that.

Your being taken for a ride.

If the coolant light came on that means it was leaking coolant when he sold it to you and the only way the same problem will happen again within a short time is if he doesn't fix it properly!

Taking you on a field day. I hate getting this from customers, but stand your ground say to him. I bought it from you faulty, you said you fixed it you didn't. If it's not fixed this time properly I want my money back also throw in the small claims court.

Sounds like a right crook, he more than likly got sold a dud himself and is now realising it's a dud and wants too make sure your stuck with it.

Seek advise from the legal forum, right about now I would ask for my money back. Head gasket problems on cars are not fun at all and take ages to fix and if not done right will keep blowing over and over.
