Favourite Electric Guitars

Do you have a favourite type of guitar ? I've gone through a lot and come to the conclusion that strats and teles suit me. Main reason is I can get the sound that I like but they feel great to play and I really love how they look !!!:o

I've other makes / styles as well but keep coming back to the two above.

So what floats your boat and why. Are they a tool that give you a particular sound or are you drawn to a make / image / sound / look ?

I'm a strat man. That being said though, i haven't played everything so there could be something else out there!
And that's an SSS strat btw, wouldn't be against a humbucker in the bridge mind.

My favourite would be the Gibson SG; I have a special (http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/SG/Gibson-USA/SG-Special.aspx). I did upgrades to it: replaced the tuning machines with Gotoh locking tuner in balck and the pickups with EMG HZ H1s. I like the fact that it is so light and it isn't hard to access the high frets. Also I am an AC/DC fan, I gues is the Angus Young influence.

Though lately had been falling for the Les Paul, have one of this which has some nice features <snip>. I started appreciating the Les Paul after watching Guns and Roses videos back in the 90s.

I have an Ibanez; is very nice and all but can't get to prefer it ver the SG for some reason.

Les Paul for me. Loved Led Zep, early Aerosmith, G'n'R's, etc. as a teenager. Bought one mail order when I was about 21 or 22. It was the first one I'd ever played and it just fitted like a glove. All advice goes against buying a guitar blind but F me, it was a revelation. Felt so nice and easy to play, endless sustain and a big fat sound. Only guitar I've played where you can roll the tone pot right down on the neck pick up and get a huge fat sound which still has it's mid and treble and a perfectly defined sound. More versatile than most people think, well capable of anything from jazz to metal, jangly pop to overdriven rock (where it really shines). I wouldn't trade it for any amount of PRS', super strats or customs. It's my perfect guitar ( o.k. coil taps would be handy). And it's black. Love the sunburst but also the black and wanted a purposeful looking guitar rather than the glamour sunburst.
It plays good, feels good, sounds good and looks good. It's just cool.
After that semis like ES335, Casino, Rickenbacker etc. Then Teles, Strats and SGs in no particular order. After that it's much of a muchness to me.

Love my SG ...great access to the upper frets and light as a feather.
I like HSS strats also and 335's. Thought i was a LP man but alas I am not. :)

I love single pickup guitars... my current electric is a Les Paul Jr. I also really like Fender Esquire's, single pup Gretschs, Firebirds, and even some jazz boxes. I have been know to like some shredder strats with single humbuckers also. :D

I've got a Burns Steer which is just lovely to play. Have always liked Teles too, though don't have one - much nicer looking than a Strat. And of course, Rickenbackers (semi accoustic) are just the coolest looking guitars on the planet.

I'm most comfortable with a superstrat, I love how well they sit and how they feel. I've had loads of different ones Jackson, Ibanez, Agile, Carvin, ESP, Charvel, Schecter. It's a common shape but shapes like V's, Sgs or explorers haven't felt right with me when I've tried them.
That said I do have a soft spot for telecasters! I have a cheap tele that gets as much play as any of my other guitars. It's very simple but it plays nicely and sounds great. I'd love to have a custom tele made some day.

there's definately not a single guitar that i'd call a favourite... but i do have favourite features...

thin necks are out... like a good piece of wood to get hold of!
switches near the playing area are out... thats strat volume knobs..
i like unconventional guitars too... ones that can't be labeled as the best strat/tele/lp ever.
also very fond of medium output humbuckers!

the guitars i've always been lusting after are the Gibson LP Recording...

and the white Gibson flying v custom.

Casino is actually a thinline, full-hollowbody - just so you know.

Didn't want to make it more complicated than necessary, but yeah, I know. I actually have one. Cherry red. Gorgeous, gorgeous guitar. Combination of hollow body and P90s leave it prone to feedback and micophomic squeal. Love it though. Sexy looking thing.

mine would be ibanez as well, just love playing my Jcustom with the EMGs. the neck is so easy to play on.

Making up a custom les paul soon though, with a similar neck profile, Dimarzio evolution in the neck, X2n in the bridge and a ghost floyd with midi and piezo convertor.

Hopfully ill have that guitar by the end of the year :p

No preference really, although my strat gets 90% of my attention. Currently playing this and a sheraton, when something warmer is needed.
