Today I went before the judge and was granted a protection order against my ex-partner. We have to appear in court next week to see if I can be granted a Safety Order. Do I need to have a solicitor with me for this? I have already provided a written statement but I'm not sure what else I have to do. And what will happen if…

You don't need a solicitor.
