    Hi

I've a computer science degree and have worked in software development for 3 years using a RPGLE (how exciting i know!!) anyway i have been working away from software for a while now but want to get back into it. i have studied Java, VB, ASP C++ etc and was wondering if someone could tell me what would be a good project to work on?

As in a Java back end program maybe with C# front end with a tomcat server?

would something like this be useful to study?

is it practical to do in my space time?
c# expensive to get started with on my own computer?

i have read tutorials and that but I still think they don't prepare you for working in the real world.

if not could you suggest another project that would be good. e.g iphone/android apps?
