IMEI reflash

I have a Nexus S that I unlocked and flashed with a custom ROM. Unfortunately this had the effect of setting the phone IMEI to a test number. As such, the phone no longer registers on O2 or Meteor.
Does anyone know where I could get the phone IMEI reflashed?

This happened me as well on a Galaxy S, just reflashing to a Samsung ROM fixed the issue for me.

Unfortunately going back to a stock rom didn't help.

IIRC it is highly illegal to mess around with this number, a crime punishable with prison.think I read that somewhere, something to do with robbed phones.

    (could be very wrong here)

How the hell did flashing the phone change the IMEI?
Im sure if you go into the shop where you bought the phone from then they will help you out.

AFAIK the only way the IMEI would change is if it got repaired with new parts ie. motherboard

I had this problem with a Spica after flashing a custom rom imei's replaced with zeros. Google it or do a search on xda developers. If you can prove with the sticker and screenshot of messed up number(if not stolen) which imei you want back they might help you out.Not free but still much cheaper to repair that way. Your wrong you don't need to change the hardware to get you imei back. There's a special file on android which related to you imei number this gets damaged when flashing goes wrong.

I didnt say that, the only way I ever heard about the imei changing was from parts getting replaced.

Good thinking though about having proof and just getting the old imei back. No point in changing it yourself which is illegal AFAIK, nothing wrong with the old IMEI.

I agree with you on that. Imei change is illegal, I wasn't talking about that, but you can have your old number back. Do have a backup of your rom before flashing!

yeah it shouldnt be that hard to get it back in fairness. I messed about with it a bit on symbian a few years back just to see if I could do it. got bored after a while though haha.

im some disaster cos I never keep a backup of me rom when flashing. Paid just over 600 for the evo3d last month and nearly cried for 2 days until I figured out what went wrong.

I'd have put it that way: hardware change not the only way to do it. Symbian? I have that too, just typing from an old E61i. Not a dual core monster but can't beat its standby compared to screen size.
