Flood - lights etc. going off

So we got stuck in my 97 Fiesta in the floods last night, was up to the bonnet and coming in under the doors. It didn't cut out while in the floods, but today the lights and power steering suddenly went off when driving, and the wheel isn't locking when the engine is turned off. The lights are coming back on now but the wheel still isn't locking on and off. Any ideas on what's wrong and what we should do? & how much it might cost if we need to get it fixed?
    Thanks!

TBH, i'd start looking for a new car. That car's worth very little, and it's never going to be the same again.

Mad as it sounds did the same last year to a 99 Clio, i managed to dry out

the engine bay the next day. I diconnected the battery, and spend an

hour or two witha hair dryer!(nuts i know) but it did the trick.

Car ran grand till i sold it 2 months ago. If your stuck, might just work out.

    Good luck OP.

Yeah it seems to be okay now so we're hoping maybe we can dry it out. We were wondering if the belt might have gotten wet and started slipping or something. I'll try the hairdryer, thanks!
Really don't want to get rid of it, love my car, and I can't afford to buy one anyway!

If its running now Muir, leave it run so it heats right up...might just evaporate some of the water.

As some others have said, might be worth looking at donedeal for a replacement, not going to be worth spending money on if you cant dry it out.

    What a nightmare.

Yeah, left it running for a while, the lights & power steering only went today on the M50 when going at around 80km, so I was wondering if the belt was wet it might have started slipping a little with the speed. Though the wheel still isn't locking right for some reason.
Gotta go to the garage and hoover the water out of the carpets soon.
And all because I was being nice going to collect my mam from the bus stop cause it was raining!!
