Well it was a busy night last night. Every resource seems to have been used. We were out pumping houses for a godd while and checking to see if cars had people still in them. Anyone else out? I know some civil defence where called out.

Out of curiosity, if you guys are called up for CD duty in emergencies like this, are your employers obliged to pay you if you're meant to be working etc?

No. I think it came up in a thread before too.

Its not unheard of for Council employees to be treated as if they were in their normal job when on CD duty during working hours, but in this area and nearby counties its normally those who are self employed or work in the home or weekends etc who cover weekday duties or incidents.

In fairness for major searches etc a lot of people will take annual leave for a day or two if its possible in their workplace. Our CD got about 60 people out a few years ago as people got notice during the previous working day - many members dont mind taking a day or two when its a once a year occasion and all hands are genuinely needed.
