The Dolce Diet- 3 weeks to shredded

Ok so a lot of people are raving about Mike Dolce's "Dolce Diet". They all say it works wonders and is fantastic. Granted, a lot of professional mma fighters use his guidelines and they say its great for cutting weight etc.
I overheard a couple of guys talking about "3 weeks to shredded" the other day, and they were saying they were gonna go online and buy it.

So I decided to have a look and see what all the fuss is about. Apparently you can only buy it from the official website and its $40. I (*may or may not have) downloaded a pdf of it and the reason I'm starting this thread is just to warn all of you NOT to waste money on this. Its the biggest load of rubbish I've ever seen. Not even worth a fiver imo.

Fair enough if your buying into the hype and want to get it then by all means do. But don't spend the $40 on it. You'll be sorely disappointed.
Mike Dolce has a new book out called "Living Lean" and i haven't seen that yet so I can't comment on that. It might be good, I dunno. But this one.....really bad. He basically rattles on for the first quarter of the book about a weight cut he made. Then he gives you a small little shopping list, tells you what he ate for breakfast, and then gives you a few pages to make notes on. Worthless.

Anyway that's just my opinion. Just thought I'd give you all a heads up.

I'v heard it's a waste of money aswell. He basically says eat real food, just like the Paleo diet, I believe? I remember him harping on about how protein and water diets for weight cuts are a thing of the past. He says you need the micronutrients from fruit and veg etc.

Yeah, he doesn't even go into any detail at all. I can't really explain how pointless the whole thing is.
You'd get a lot more, and better, info/advice for free just by searching in this forum for 5mins

Is it cut carbs, eat protein from real food and get fats into you from peanut butter, nuts and fish?

To be honest it barely even goes into that much detail.

Edit: Maybe I'm being a bit too harsh on it but from reading it I just can't justify the $40 price tag. It's all the hype that's around it and then it turns out to be really poor. I just feel sorry for the people who forked out the cash for it, expecting something great, and gettin this.
If you want to see it and make up your own mind I'll gladly send it on to you. Maybe I'm being too critical.

Id agree with you, he bassically shows what he ate for 3 weeks while doing a weight cut. Its the same thing every week except he gradually cuts down portion sizes. Not worth a fiver. The new book is supposed to have recipies and workouts and stuff so might be more usefull but id be skeptical of anything with his name on it after seing this "book" (its more like a pamphlet).

I've heard it was useless and I agree that he isn't the greatest writer. I read the Living Lean book on pdf and it was ok. I would love to read the 3 weeks to shredded book if anyone knows a cheap place to get it. If anyone has it on pdf, would you mind sending me it :)

Trust me guys the Dolce Diet Works. Im an MMA fighter and ive cut 10kg in 6 weeks and im looking and feeling great. Still a lot of work to do but its working very well. El Guapo! You have to get the Living Lean Cookbook my for all the recipes my man. Granted that is a bit crap I downloaded them both to my iPhone for 20 euro all together. Now I have them in my pocket wherever I go. Its well worth it despite what any naysayers say. & Ive spoke online with hundreds of people who its worked for too and seen their results from other fighters to just your average joe :)

Three weeks to shredded is a protein sparing modified fast. The jist is simple.

Eat 2.5-3g per kg of bodyweight of protein. Use lean protein sources, 95% lean beef, chicken, turkey, white fish

Eat your fill of green veg.

6g of fish oil per day.

    600-1200mg of calcium.

    1x multi vitamin

and as much black coffee as needed to keep you going.

Do a two day re-feed every 11 days.

Very similar Shelby Starnes Very Low Carb Diet.

Relatively simple & weight literally begins to fall off

    Coffee becomes vital ;)

Its not as bad as you think. I've tried extending it to 3 weeks and then its grim but 11 days of hard dieting then a refeed is ok. Its more an emergency diet rather then a sensible way to do things. Its my go to diet for the women who come to me with 3 weeks to go til their weddings.

So is it just high protein, moderate to low carbs and low fat? Or have I got that wrong?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭amazingemmet

    Nope,

Its high protein and try to get everything else out of your diet as much as possible. If you're using whole food protein sources then there will be some incidental fats but try to choose the meats with as low as possible fat contents. You could do it with just protein shakes but that too would be grim.

Lyle Mcdonald has good book on the topic if you want to read more details and I'd dare say everyone promoting a PSMF type diet used that book to build it.

I've tried the Velocity Diet twice (Vdiet 1.0 and 2.0, haven't tried or read about 3.0)

there's nothing great or miraculous about it and the fact that you're running a calorific deficit combined with sufficient fibre and protein intake with training could be replicated in any number of ways without using their system.

I used it to cut weight and it worked very well. I will say that the energy levels needed to be managed a lot and missing a meal but ten or 15 minutes made it even tougher :P

V-diet isn't a strict PSMF as you're getting some fats and carbs from the nuts and workout nutrition they suggest.

Cool. I wasn't trying to fit it into a certain bracket, just my 2 cents on 3 weeks to shredded style rapid weight loss diets. I'd say the Vdiet is one of the less healthy ways of losing weight.
