Our course will be finished by the end of november and they are expecting us to pay the 50euro for the parking for only 15 days that we are going to be there for..

Now we went to the students union and as our instructors informed us that they are useless, they say well it's a pity but really they cant do anything maybe park over in the NAC and get the bus in!!!

Well my problem with that bus is that it doesn't run frequently enough. some days we finish earlier and some we dont and that bus just doesn't suit our time tables. And another thing is that I have to drive for an hour and half to college each way every day and I'm not the only person on the course doing that, our days is long enough before having to get buses.

Now we dont mind paying for parking maybe 20 euro till the end of the month but 50 euro is a bit of a rip off and a piss take for 15 days.
So as our request feel on deaf ears we have decided to buy a con saw and cut any clamps off until they sort this out!! and keep the clamps and bring them to the scrap yard and get a few quid for them..

    Rant over
    Keep her cutting:mad:

The NAC is a 10 minute walk away, you could just walk. Or park in the field

All classes in the college are canceled for friday. They will be around 500 or so parking spaces. Becaue very few students will be in, some will go in to library to study etc.

What field are you talking about??? I have 3 clamps in the back of the car already and there is no way i'm paying for parking for only 11 days of college that i have left.
And the Nac is a private car park too which is 17mins away from the college so thats a negitive

17 minutes? How slow are you walking?!

I don't agree with the parking situation which has developed but seriously some people are making it out to be so much more than it is. You have the luxury of a car every day while so many students trek across town on four buses a day spending the guts of 20 hours a week on those buses along with the 10 minute walk. It's not like your being asked for a kidney, it's 10 minutes out of your life that most student do anyway. Stop moaning, get up 10 minutes earlier and go park in the NAC for the love of god.

I live in Clondalkin village, a mere 15minute drive to college. Since I dont drive, I have to get a bus into town and a bus from town to college plus that 10minute walk, thats 4 hours of buses everyday. Like above poster said, people should stop complaining. ya have it easy :p

Havin it easy??? 4 hours of busses are your choice!!! Having chose to buy a car and pay insurance and tax etc and to do d course in blanch was a lot of peoples choice! payin €50 for a permit, not being guarenteed a space and gettin clamped wasnt!

Been in d college 2 nd a half years now! They dont give a toss about their students! 600spaces to park and they are let sell a ridiculous amount of parking permits! Its an absolute joke!!!

Excuse me getting the bus to hours is not a choice for most, it's the only option!! You could afford to buy and car, tax it etc, fair play to you, most can't.

In most college's you have to pay for parking, we're no different now. Simple fact of the matter is this is the way it's going to be from now on, whether we agree with it or not, so get used to it.

There is so many different things for student to be complaining about these days, and yet people still moan about not being guaranteed a parking spot, it's crazy and sad.

    .

Actually worse then that... most colleges don't even consider the parking situation as their problem at all or provide any spaces. Now while inner city colleges can get away with that due to the amount of dublin bus services it shows that it's an approach that works.. that's why they added the shuttle bus. Park in the NAC or the shopping center... get the free shuttle bus and your sorted. The carpark in the shopping center where the bus stops is never full ever.... either is the NAC for that matter.

It's not like the thing doesn't run enough times at the moment!
Just take some initiative and plan to arrive at center in time to get shuttle bus.

it's times are up on www.itb.ie/parking

To be honest initially, I didn't like the permits just being over sold.. but ever since the social cares disappeared this last week the college has been a lot quieter... if some of them had guaranteed spots and now they were gone for the semester there would be worse up roar over unused spaces.
