Right after a few chilly dives in Donegal over the weekend, I am debating taking the leap into purchasing a dry suit.

The cold whilst under didn't hugely effect me. It was the wait around between dives and getting in and out of freezing wet suit that did it for me.

Any thoughts reccomendations etc price range would be under 800-900 depending on funds at the time.

    neoprene, warmest, least flexible
    membrane coldest, most flexible
compressed or laminate such a Gates suit in the middle of the above specs

    most very hard wearing

it will boost your enjoyment level of diving no end.
    would highly reccomend.

i dive all year round in dry suit here in ireland
just change the underclothes depending how cold/warm it is

Make sure that your regulator is capable of doing cold dives as well to avoid freeflowing.

Diving myself in a membrame suit: Oceanic Flexa with a Beaver undersuit.

O Three or Northern Diver 4mm for neoprene diving suit. Would recommend fourth element for neoprene undersuit or fourth element arctic for under membrane suit.

Iv got a ScubaPro EverDry4. Its a fantastic suit. The only down side is ya need boots cause its got socks and cause the boots fill with water i can feel the drag. Just very important to get the correct size. But honestly a fantastic suit. Iv never gotten wet in it. Did my PADI Advanced Open in it, no leaking through any seals.

Couldn't speak highly enough of it tbh

i had a scubapro trilaminate suit that i loved very comfy dry etc. but i grew out of it.
have a hydrotech 2.5mm compressed neoprene and its grand.
id recommend trying /renting a few suits before purchase
with the "o three" recomendation,i wanted one but the supplier at the time wasnt bothered helping and my regular dive shop wasnt aloud as they werent a main dealer.
but they are suppose to be great

    Confused?? How??

The suit has socks on it instead of boots so ya gotta wear a pair of boot with it and it does create a little drag.

    Where's the confusion?

As your dry suit should not be full of water??;)

Picked myself up a Procean suit on the cheap. Just need to sort out wrist seals. Might go for latex as the neoprone won't give a good seal.

Have never had a problem with neoprene wrist seals. Latex are great for seal but tear easily if worked hard or stored incorrectly. Would go neoprene every time!

Yeah I heard its a pain in the ar$e with the seals tearing but I just can't seem to get the neoprene to go flush against my wrists. Think its the veins!

Take a leaf from commercial divers: use electrical/duct tape around wrist seals.

Any hot water suits i've ever used have neoprene seals too!! Or you could just replace the latex seals yourself.
