Just got Sky, but need 'normal' TV on other TVs?

Hi guys, looking for a little help. Have tried to find the answer here but I keep ending up chasing my tail looking at vaguely related posts. So here goes my (admittedly probably slightly dim!) question. Go easy on me if there is an obvious answer….:o

Have recently transferred over from UPC to Sky, but kinda forgot about my other tellys in the house! Not going to pay Sky for Multi-room etc, so when UPC cut my service in the next week or so how do I get the ‘normal’ channels (by that I mean your RTEs, BBCs, Channel 4, ITV and other ‘free to air’ channels) on my other TVs? (If I’ve p**sed anyone off by asking an obvious question I apologise in advance… Sorryyyyyy!)

From my understanding, a Saorview box will only get me the Irish channels? Some people have said ‘oh get one of those boxes when they’re in Aldi/Lidl/whatever’, but apart from the fact that these elusive ‘boxes’ are only in there now and again, can I ask what exactly these ‘boxes’ are called? Also, if I get one can I link it to a TV in another room (obviously if I change the channel on one it will change on a linked TV, but that’s not an issue)?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Mucho gracias amigos!

To get the terrestials you will need an aerial. To get the Beebs & Itv etc., you will need a set-top box(STB) to get them via satellite. That is, unless you live close to the border.STBs are relatively cheap and are once-off costs. If your budget stretches you could go for a combo box like the Ferguson Ariva 120 Box. Available at a very keen price from www.satellite.ie. Tony, who owns it, is a regular poster on these forums. He might even do a deal if you are ordering more than 1. These boxes will tune in DTT & FTA satellite channels and you can record from them on to a hdd or usb key via the usb socket. Have a look at the various forums on Satellite & Terrestial. Loads of info there.

Yeah - Tony has been helpful on the Boards forum, and generous with his time, even when he's not making a sale.
