DIY Airleakage detection tip

Hi,

Something I did yesterday\today that I thought I'd share.

I'm having BIG problems with the sliding door I got for our home.

I added another issue to the list yesterday using this method.

I was convinced that the vertical seal in my slider between the fixed and sliding sashes wasn't correct. I could hear more sound from outside when standing near it than I'd have expected

So I got one of those incense sticks that the missus is constantly burning. I held it close to the area I was concerned about and watched the smoke flow back into the room away from the seal. I videoed it and sent it off to my supplier.

Hope someone else finds this useful.

Was herself not incensed by this, or is the leaky door doing enough:)

I picked up a hand-held smoke generator from the quys in Athboy, its excellent for A/T testing

Yeah, I ordered one of those today. My solution was for my sanity on a saturday on a now now now basis.

Plus it cost about 1% of the cost of the proper one.
