I could possibly have a sales assistant interview during the week with o2.

Has anyone got any advice for me?
Apart from being confident and dress appropriately :)

Hi Colibri - I had a succesful interview with O2 a few years ago, (i don't work there anymore) they focused on the usual things, ie. being sales focused, teamwork and showing ambition. They also had a pretty big emphasis on the willingness to take part in future training opportunities provided by them.

    Good Luck

I worked as a sales assistant with them before also (not anymore). But its been three years since the interview and they may have changed the structure.

Anyway, mine was like a competency based one without actually being competency based if you understand me? I had very little experience, 6 months with as a customer service agent for another phone company, and I got the job more or less on my stories from that job, i.e. how I was part of a team competing with other teams, and how I dealt with angry customers.

I told a few funny stories about examples of extreme customers I had to deal with and how I coped; such as my first call as a customer service agent when a man rang me asking to cancel his account as his house burnt down, he was nearly crying on the phone (had not covered this situation in training obviously). So I explained to the interviewer how I had no idea what to do for this man or what my companies policy on burned down houses were (my first call remember, hadn't exactly read every term and condition just yet). But overcame problem after a few moments of uncertainty, etc. I reckon that story impressed them alot as it although it was a fairly easy problem to overcome (I put him on hold and asked a team leader), I played up the fact that my first ever call was a nightmare call and it really tested my ability to think on my feet and solve problems for customers that may be out of the ordinary.

Just explain how great you are :)... in a friendly way. They are really interested in customer service so push that. Stories are great imo, as in if a customer ever asked for you by name because they thought you were great the last time they dealt with you, etc.

Good luck with the interview :)
