iTunes library gone

Basically my girlfriend backed up her 3GS to iTunes because she was getting a iphone4. Everything backed up. She got her iPhone 4 and opened iTunes to discover that her library has disappeared. Its not on iTunes cloud or anywhere on the computer, her 3GS is now gone, so where else would the library be ?
